JOURNEY TO 300
This year, I have a big goal: to complete 300 training sessions. This isn’t a goal I recommend for everyone, and it’s a goal I don’t think I could have ever undertaken with confidence prior to this year. This means, most weeks I will have to work out 6 days because I’m not counting more than one session in a day. Sound crazy? Well, let’s talk a little more about it.
What are my requirements for each training session? If I am healthy: 40+ minutes of focused exercise. If I’m sick, it becomes whatever I can do that day. Whether that means a walk or a 10 minute yoga video, I complete whatever focused session I can to better myself, even when I’m sick.
In order to keep up with this goa, I will need to train 6 out of 7 days most weeks. This means, I’m going to have to be very thoughtful when it comes to what my training sessions contain. In general, I follow a 5 day a week plan that is written by another coach. I do this because I never want to stop learning from other people, and when I write workouts for myself, I tend to avoid my weaknesses. I am most excited for my 6th session, because this is when I plan to experiment with other types of training and sports, like swimming, basketball, yoga, and rock climbing. This is also when I will experiment with new training elements for clients or do focused PT to keep my body healthy. I plan to have a great deal of variety in this 6th training session, and I know the variety is going to become a challenge as the year goes on, but that challenge is what I’m excited to stretch me!
So far, it’s February 7th and I am 35 workouts into my goal. 265 more workouts to go; no big deal. I have no idea what this year will bring, and that part gives me serious anxiety, but also makes me excited to show up daily. If the past two years are any guide, 2022 is going to be full of unpleasant surprises. But I trust myself that I’m going to complete this challenge. I’m going to prioritize myself as an athlete, woman, business-owner, and person.
I will update throughout the year as I go, and I hope that you’ll follow along and maybe pick up a few challenges along the way for yourself.
